Solution
It seems like you are facing issues with KDE applications on Ubuntu 9.10 GNOME and would prefer not to use them due to the problems they have caused. Here are a few possible solutions to address this situation:

Solution 1: Uninstall KDE Applications

You can remove KDE applications that you do not need or find troublesome. To uninstall KDE applications, you can use the following command in the terminal:
Bash:
sudo apt-get remove --purge packagename
Replace "packagename" with the name of the KDE application you want to remove.

Instead of using KDE applications, you can explore alternative applications that are more compatible with GNOME. Here are a few recommendations:
  • File Manager: Nautilus
  • Terminal: GNOME Terminal
  • Text Editor: Gedit
  • Web Browser: Firefox or Chromium
  • Office Suite: LibreOffice

Solution 3: Switch to a Different Desktop Environment

If you are not satisfied with GNOME and KDE applications, you can consider switching to a different desktop environment altogether. Some lightweight desktop environments that you can try are Xfce or LXDE.

Solution 4: Upgrade to a Newer Version of Ubuntu

Ubuntu 9.10 is quite old, and newer versions provide better compatibility with different applications. Consider upgrading to a more recent version of Ubuntu, such as Ubuntu 20.04 LTS or Ubuntu 22.04.

Solution 5: Seek Community Support

If you face specific issues with KDE applications, you can seek help from the Ubuntu community or forums to troubleshoot and find solutions to your problems. By implementing one of these solutions, you can improve your experience with Ubuntu and avoid the issues caused by KDE applications. Let me know if you need more assistance with any of these solutions.
