Suddenly and quite without warning, my forward slash is doing the following - make sure you're standing up before you see the following holding down the Shift button - forward slash = \
Now my keyboard is set to "English (United States) keyboard" -
If I set it to "English (Canada) keyboard" I get the following for the forward slash without holding down the Shift button - \
Holding down the Shift button = "
Using the ÈEnglish (Canada) Multilingual keyboardÈ I get what you see already as French letters before *English* and *keyboard* ... the forward slash is without holding down the Shift button = à
And holding down the Shift button I get = À
And with the English (Canada) Canadian French keyboard I get the following for the forward slash button without holding down the Shift button = <
And holding down the Shift button, I get = >
I`ve tried the Ctrl- Shift button and get the following for the forward slash = À (thatès with holding down the Shift button.
Anyone have an idea as to how to overcome this -
I'm using a Toshiba Satellite L675 with Windows 8. This problem only began this past evening. Plus, the fonts are working well in Outlook - but only in this IE10 Browser has the problem began taking place.
This problem is also taking place in Google Chrome but within Outlook, the fonts / keyboard characters work flawlessly.
Also, in a new tab or Facebook, the Forward slash works properly. Oh yes - I have rebooted the system but nothing changes.

Solution
It seems like your keyboard settings might be causing the issue with the forward slash key behaving unexpectedly. Let's try to troubleshoot this issue step by step:
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Check Keyboard Language Settings:
- Go to the Control Panel on your Windows 8 system.
- Navigate to "Clock, Language, and Region" > "Language."
- Ensure that your keyboard language is set correctly to "English (United States)".
- Reset Keyboard Settings:
- Go to the Control Panel > "Clock, Language, and Region" > "Language."
- Select "Options" next to the installed keyboard language.
- Check if the keyboard layout is set to "United States (International)" or another layout inadvertently.
- If not, try...

- Check if the keyboard layout is set to "United States (International)" or another layout inadvertently.
- If not, try changing the keyboard layout to the default "US Keyboard" (English (United States).
- Keyboard Shortcuts:
- Sometimes certain keyboard shortcuts or settings can cause unexpected behavior. Check for any custom keyboard shortcuts that might have been accidentally set up.
- Check Browser Settings:
- Since the issue is present in Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, it may be related to browser settings.
- Check the language settings within the browsers. Make sure it matches the system language settings.
- Update Keyboard Drivers:
- Outdated keyboard drivers can also cause issues. Update your keyboard driver through Device Manager.
- Test in Safe Mode:
- Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode. Test if the issue persists in Safe Mode. This helps identify if the problem is due to third-party applications.
- System Restore:
- Consider performing a System Restore to a point before the issue started occurring.
- Browser Add-Ons:
- Disable any browser add-ons or extensions that might be interfering with the keyboard inputs.
Additional Considerations:
- The inconsistency across different applications might indicate a software rather than a hardware issue.
- Ensure that your keyboard is functioning correctly by testing it in a different application or on a different computer.
- Disable any browser add-ons or extensions that might be interfering with the keyboard inputs.
