I am hoping that some of you wonderful people may be able to help me with this problem as besides this I love 7 so far.

Here is the issue:

Computer always boots and runs normally. It will run stably 24/7 if left on. Shutting down and Powering up present no problems. When I attempt to resume from sleep however I see a black screen with my pointer on it (which I cannot move) for approximately 10 seconds, then I get a Blue Screen with a message about a failed attempt at resuming the display driver.
The Windows Problem reporter gives me this information:

Solution
Based on the information you provided, the issue with your computer appears to be related to a problem with the display driver causing a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) when resuming from sleep mode. The BCCode 116 typically points to a VIDEO_TDR_ERROR, which is often related to the display driver failing to respond within a certain time period. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Steps to Resolve the Display Driver BSOD Issue:

  1. Update Display Drivers:
    • Ensure that you have the latest drivers for your ATI Radeon 4870x2 video card. While you mentioned you have the latest drivers, sometimes newer updates or beta drivers can resolve specific issues.

  1. Update Display Drivers:
    • Ensure that you have the latest drivers for your ATI Radeon 4870x2 video card. While you mentioned you have the latest drivers, sometimes newer updates or beta drivers can resolve specific issues.
    []Rollback Drivers:
    • If the issue started after a driver update, try rolling back to a previous version of the display driver to see if the problem persists.
    [
    ]Check for System Updates:
    • Ensure your Windows 7 operating system is fully up to date with the latest patches and updates from Microsoft. Sometimes system updates can address driver-related issues.
    []Power Management Settings:
    • Check your power management settings and adjust them to troubleshoot the sleep mode issue. You can try disabling hybrid sleep or adjusting other power settings to see if it makes a difference.
    [
    ]BIOS Update:
    • Consider updating your motherboard BIOS to the latest version available from the manufacturer's website. Sometimes BIOS updates can resolve compatibility issues.
    []Hardware Check:
    • Perform a hardware check to ensure that all components are functioning correctly. You can run diagnostic tools to check for any hardware issues that may be causing the problem.
    [
    ]Check Event Viewer:
    • Look in the Windows Event Viewer for any additional error messages or warnings that might provide more insight into the cause of the BSOD.
  2. System Restore:
    • If the issue started recently, you can try using System Restore to revert your system back to a point where the problem did not exist.

      Additional Information:

      • Since you are using Windows 7 Ultimate, support for this operating system has ended. Consider upgrading to a newer version of Windows to ensure you receive security updates and support.
      • Make sure to back up your important data before attempting any major changes to your system.
By following these steps and potentially updating drivers, adjusting settings, and performing system checks, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the BSOD issue you are experiencing when resuming from sleep mode.
