Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter WUSB54GC- Just wanted to throw this out there - it cannot work with Windows 7 - probably because it was only ok for XP, too old for Vista - it would load the drivers but not attach the drivers to the hardware. I finally went out and got a vista adapter: Netgear RangeMax Wireless Adapter WPN111 - works very well:) ... I had no trouble with loading as long as I did the settings manually for my connection.

linksys wireless adapter wusb54g does work

After many days my linksys wusb54g adapter started to work. The drivers loaded ok a few days ago but I kept getting a message that the software was not loaded so I unplugged it from the usb port. Today on a whim I tried plugging in it again and the win7 loaded the drivers and lo and behold it works. I wish I could be more definitive on the explanation but I just don't know what happened. The adapter is 3 years old and was being used with winxp home and pro.
