When you encounter issues like this where a piece of software runs on one Windows 7 computer but not on another, despite your attempts with compatibility settings, there are a few areas you can investigate to troubleshoot this problem further: 1. Event Viewer: Check the Windows Event Viewer for any error messages or logs related to the program. This can provide more detailed information on why the program is failing to start. 2. Sometimes, certain permissions are needed for the program to run smoothly. 3. Firewall and Antivirus: Your security software or firewall settings may be blocking the program from running. Temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall to see if the program starts successfully. 4. Dependencies: The software may have dependencies or prerequisites that are missing on the desktop. Check if there are any additional software components required for the program to run. 5. Compatibility Mode: Although you mentioned you already tried compatibility settings, it might be worth trying different compatibility modes or running the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter again. 6. Check for Updates: Ensure that your Windows 7 desktop is fully updated and that all drivers are up to date. Sometimes, missing updates can cause compatibility issues with certain software. 7. Reinstall: If none of the above steps work, consider uninstalling the software from your desktop, then reinstalling it. This can sometimes resolve issues related to corrupt installations. By exploring these areas, you may be able to identify the root cause of why the program is not running on your Windows 7 desktop. If you encounter any specific error messages or details in the Event Viewer, feel free to share them for further assistance.
