Put a CPU gauge, like the All CPU Meter (gadget) not, the silly thing that is in the default Gadgets offering on the Desktop in a dual-boot set up w/ 7 & 8. Go back & forth between the 2 OSs, do the same sort of tasks & activities on each. You will see the resource usage is significantly & substantially lower in 8 than, 7.

Cheers,
Drew

Drew mentions observing significantly lower resource usage in Windows 8 compared to Windows 7 while performing similar tasks. To compare resource usage, one way is to monitor the CPU utilization in both operating systems. Since gadgets are not available in newer versions of Windows, you might want to use alternative tools to achieve the same functionality. One alternative to the All CPU Meter gadget for monitoring CPU usage is to use a third-party system monitoring tool that provides real-time data on CPU usage. Here's a step-by-step guide on how you can set this up on a dual-boot system with Windows 7 and Windows 8: 1. Here's a step-by-step guide on how you can set this up on a dual-boot system with Windows 7 and Windows 8: 1. Choose a System Monitoring Tool: - Search for a reliable system monitoring tool that offers a CPU gauge or widget for real-time CPU monitoring. Some popular options include Rainmeter, HWMonitor, Core Temp, or CPU-Z. 2. Install the Monitoring Tool on Both Operating Systems: - Download and install the chosen system monitoring tool on both your Windows 7 and Windows 8 partitions. 3. Configure the CPU Gauge Widget: - Customize the CPU gauge widget to display real-time CPU usage on your desktop. You can usually adjust settings such as update frequency, appearance, and position on the desktop. 4. Perform Tasks and Activities on Both OSs: - Boot into Windows 7 and perform various tasks while monitoring the CPU usage using the widget. - Reboot into Windows 8 and repeat the same tasks to compare the CPU usage between the two operating systems. 5. Compare Resource Usage: - Note down the CPU utilization levels displayed by the monitoring tool in both Windows 7 and Windows 8. - Analyze the data to see if there is a noticeable difference in resource usage between the two operating systems. By following these steps and monitoring CPU usage with a third-party system monitoring tool on your dual-boot setup, you can effectively compare resource usage between Windows 7 and Windows 8. This will provide insight into any differences in performance and resource utilization between the two operating systems. If you encounter any specific issues or need further assistance in setting up the CPU gauge widget or interpreting the data, feel free to ask for help!
