Windows 7 - new installation on OE new computer
Windows Media Player Library
I have some photo files that I have deleted , including the original sample photos - Penguines, chrysanthimums etc
The files and folder are not there but when I open windows media library the thumbnails are still there
I have tried every thing I can think of
When i click properties it shows a file size 0:0 and the path that no longer exisits

If I click go to file location nothing happens
IfI click open I get the error message - there was a problem opening this file ---- Of course there was it no longer exists!:(

It seems like the thumbnails in Windows Media Player Library are still showing even though the associated photo files have been deleted. This issue can occur if the Media Player Library cache is not properly updated. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this issue:

Clear Windows Media Player Library Cache

  1. Close Windows Media Player: Make sure Windows Media Player is closed before proceeding.
  2. Stop Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service: This service can sometimes hold onto the cache. Stop it by:
    • Press Windows Key + R, type in services.msc, and hit Enter.
    • Find "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service," right-click on it, and select "Stop."
    []Delete...

    ]Rebuild Media Library:
    • Open Windows Media Player.
    • Go to the "Library" tab and click on "Organize Library."
    • Check "Rebuild library" and click OK.

      Rebuilding the Library

    []Manually Remove Missing Items:
    • Open Windows Media Player.
    • Right-click on the missing items and select "Delete."
    [
    ]Manually Add Items:
    • If you still face issues, you can try manually adding your photo files back to the library after ensuring they're restored to their original location.

      Additional Notes

      • If the above steps don't work, you may need to consider resetting Windows Media Player entirely by uninstalling and reinstalling it.
      • Remember to back up any important media files before making changes to the library or your system.
Hopefully, these steps help clear out the old thumbnails from the Windows Media Player Library. Let me know if you need further assistance!
