.....

I personally got burned by the Intel 915 chipset issue on a laptop that I PERSONALLY (eg with my own $$$). Are we seeing this from a lot of customers? I know that I chose my laptop (a Sony TX770P) because it had the vista logo and was pretty disappointed that it not only wouldn't run GGlass, but more importantly wouldn't run Movie maker (I guess that is being addressed). I now have a $2100 email machine.

Is there a spreadsheet that shows feedback on h/w compat issues by IHV and OEM based on customer calls etc?

Thanks,

Mike

The internal email from Mike Nash, sent on February 25, 2007, to several Microsoft executives discusses issues related to the Intel 915 chipset and its compatibility with Windows Vista. Here are some key points from the email: - Issue Faced: Mike Nash mentions that he personally experienced problems with the Intel 915 chipset on his Sony TX770P laptop. He expresses disappointment that despite choosing a laptop with the Vista logo, it was unable to run GGlass and Movie Maker, which was a significant concern for him. - Personal Loss: Mike mentions that he invested his own money in purchasing the laptop and now feels that he essentially has an expensive "email machine" due to the compatibility issues he faced. - Request for Information: Mike asks if there is a spreadsheet available that tracks feedback on hardware compatibility issues from Independent Hardware Vendors (IHVs) and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) based on customer calls and other sources. This email provides insight into the challenges faced by users and even Microsoft executives with hardware compatibility issues during the Windows Vista era. It highlights the importance of ensuring smooth compatibility between operating systems like Vista and various hardware components to provide a satisfactory user experience.
