Hi everyone.

So here is my problem. With my microphone plugged into my back 3.5" input it is not recognized by my computer. I am running an p6n diamond motherboard with sound blaster extreme audio onboard sound. It is not recognized under Recording devices. But here is the funny part. When the mic is unplugged it says that there is one plugged in, which there is none anywhere else. The mic also does work in the front panel but I really need it plugged into the back for convenience. Yes I have the latest drivers and windows 7 updates but I can't figure out how to get it to work right. I had it working right on a previous install but I had to clear my cmos and then reinstall the onboard audio and now it doesn't work. The previous install did require some tweeking too but I can't remember what it was that I did and have no luck so far. Thanks for reading!

Even though you mentioned having the latest drivers, it's good to double-check and make sure they are correctly installed. 3. BIOS Settings: - Check the BIOS settings to ensure that the onboard audio is enabled and configured correctly. Sometimes, BIOS settings can affect the recognition of audio devices. 4. Front Panel vs. Back Panel: - Since your microphone works when plugged into the front panel, it's likely an issue with the back panel connection. Check if there are any loose connections or issues with the back panel audio ports. 5. Reinstall Audio Drivers: - Try uninstalling the audio drivers completely, restarting your computer, and then reinstalling the drivers. This can sometimes resolve driver-related issues. 6. CMOS Reset: - Since you mentioned clearing the CMOS, check if any settings related to audio configuration in the BIOS have changed. Resetting BIOS settings to default may help. 7. Check Hardware Compatibility: - Ensure that the microphone you are using is compatible with the audio ports on your motherboard. Some microphones may not work properly with certain audio interfaces. 8. Test on Another System: - If possible, test the microphone on another system to confirm if the issue is with the microphone or the computer. 9. Update Windows: - Make sure that your Windows 7 system is fully updated with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes, an update can resolve compatibility issues. By following these steps, you may be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with your microphone not being recognized when connected to the back 3.5mm input of your computer. If the issue persists, please provide more details, and we can further assist you in troubleshooting the problem.
