So I use ventrilo and teamviewer to communicate via microphone, but it has tremendous amounts of echo and reverb. I found out it is because the only way anyone can hear me is because the system is playing my microphone through the stereo mix portion of the recording devices.

If I disable or mute stereo mix and put microphone as default the mic will NOT work any more. Basically if stereo mix is disabled or not selected as the main recording device the mic will not record my voice. I'm looking for any help thanks.

Below is a picture of the two audio tabs and their devices.
I have a Foxconn 915P7AC-8KS motherboard with onboard audio

It seems like you're facing issues with echo and reverb when using Ventrilo and TeamViewer due to the way the audio is being routed through the stereo mix. To resolve this issue, you may need to adjust the audio settings on your system. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot this problem: 1. Disable Stereo Mix: - Right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray and select "Open Sound settings" or go to the Control Panel > Sound. - Go to the "Recording" tab. - Right-click on "Stereo Mix" and select "Disable". This will prevent the system from routing audio through the Stereo Mix. 2. Set Microphone as Default: - Right-click on your microphone device in the "Recording" tab and select "Set as Default Device". 3...

Check Microphone Volume: - Ensure that the microphone volume is not muted and that the levels are set appropriately. 4. Adjust Microphone Properties: - Right-click on the microphone and select "Properties". - Go to the "Listen" tab and ensure that the "Listen to this device" option is unchecked. 5. Configure Ventrilo and TeamViewer: - In the settings of Ventrilo and TeamViewer, make sure that the correct microphone is selected as the input device. 6. Restart Applications: - After making these adjustments, restart Ventrilo and TeamViewer to apply the changes. By following these steps, you should be able to set up your microphone without relying on the Stereo Mix and eliminate the echo and reverb issues. If the problem persists, you may also consider updating your audio drivers or checking for any conflicting settings within Ventrilo and TeamViewer. If you encounter any difficulties or need further assistance, feel free to provide additional details or screenshots for more targeted help.
