Hello,
Firstly, I'll tell you what I've tried:
-Run without SP1 or 2 - No success
-Run in compatibility mode and as admin - no success
-Reinstalled numerous times.

The game will freeze for 5-10 seconds before saying "Microsoft Flight Simulator X Has encountered a fatal error, windows is checking for a blah blah blah, FSX is restarting." I've figured out it is a problem when navigating context menus, other people also have the problem and it only seems to occur in Windows 7. It's possibly related to incompatibilities with DirectX 10/11.

Here's the error that is written to the event log:

Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.61472.0, time stamp: 0x475e17d3
Faulting module name: uiautomationcore.dll, version: 7.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4a5bdb1d
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000e52a
Faulting process id: 0x78c
Faulting application start time: 0x01caaf6356f19072
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\uiautomationcore.dll
Report Id: f6b3bfb0-1b62-11df-9a60-001f16c664b7

I have Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Does anyone else have the problem? A solution would be greeeeaaaattttlllllyyy appreciated

PS. My FSX online name is MitchellATC, when the game crashes and restarts, if I join the same server again, I will still be there from before the game crashed, and the new "me" will be MitchellATC_0
Strange, annoying.

It seems like you're facing a frustrating issue with Microsoft Flight Simulator X on Windows 7. The error message you provided indicates a faulting application named fsx.exe, with a faulting module named uiautomationcore.dll. This could indeed be related to compatibility issues with DirectX 10/11, as you mentioned. Here are a few steps you could try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Update DirectX: Ensure you have the latest version of DirectX installed on your system. You can download and install the latest version from the official Microsoft website.
  2. Compatibility Mode: Try running Microsoft Flight Simulator X in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows...

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Update DirectX: Ensure you have the latest version of DirectX installed on your system. You can download and install the latest version from the official Microsoft website.
  2. Compatibility Mode: Try running Microsoft Flight Simulator X in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows. Right-click on the game's executable file (fsx.exe), go to Properties > Compatibility tab, and set the compatibility mode to Windows XP or another compatible version.
  3. Disable “UI Automation” in the Registry:
    • Press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
    • Navigate to the following key:
      Code:
       HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
    • Check if there is an entry for fsx.exe. If you find it, delete the entry.
[]Check for Updates: Make sure that your operating system is up to date with the latest updates and patches from Microsoft. []Research Online: Look for forums or communities where other users might have experienced similar issues with Microsoft Flight Simulator X on Windows 7. They might have found workarounds or solutions that could help you.

    Regarding the In-Game Behavior:

The behavior where you remain present in the game as "MitchellATC_0" after a crash is likely due to the game not properly handling your disconnection. This is more of an in-game issue and might not have a direct link to the crash problem you're facing. If you still encounter difficulties after trying these steps, consider seeking assistance from the game's official support or community forums for more specific advice tailored to your situation. Good luck, and I hope you can get back to enjoying your flights in Microsoft Flight Simulator X soon!
