Windows 7 Microsoft Office not recognizing my profile

Hi all, after using Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 successfully since upgrading to Windows 7, it has suddenly ceased to open, giving me a popup which reads, 'Microsoft Office Word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application'.

I have uninstalled the program, and re-installed it from the official CD, but get the same popup when trying to open the program. When I click OK, it just shuts the program down.

Have surfed the net, and while others are having the same trouble, no clear solution has been offered. Consensus of opinion seems to point to an update patch by MS.

Can anyone help me here please. I am new to the forum, and will try to attach a copy of the popup.

Thanks for replying. No I meant to say that it has been suggested that a windows update has caused the problem. I am none the wiser. Have seen instructions for fiddling with the registry, but not being an expert I am loath to try it without clear instructions.
