Hi, I have Win7 Home Premium installed on 3 computers at home - purchased a Family Pack to install on 3 pc's. One of my pc's (old P4) is dying and I am replacing it with a new pc and want to disable/uninstall windows from this pc and install it on the new pc. The old pc had XP then I installed win 7 release candidate and then win 7 (32 bit) - now want to install 64 bit on new machine. Advice please!

Solution
To transfer Windows 7 Home Premium from your old PC to a new one, you'll need to follow these steps:

Step 1: Deactivate Windows 7 from the Old PC

  1. Deactivate License: Ensure that the Windows 7 license is deactivated from the old PC. This involves uninstalling Windows from the old computer.
  2. Activation Key: Keep your Windows 7 activation key safe for reactivation on the new PC.

Step 2: Clean Installation of Windows 7 64-bit on the New PC

  3. Check Hardware Compatibility: Make sure your new PC meets the system requirements for Windows 7 64-bit.
  4. Create Installation Media: Obtain a Windows 7 64-bit installation disc or create a bootable USB drive with the installation files.

  6. Activate Windows: After installation, activate Windows using the same key you used on the old PC.

    Note:

    • Compatibility: Even though you are upgrading from 32-bit to 64-bit, you will need to perform a clean installation as you cannot upgrade directly from 32-bit to 64-bit.
    • Data Backup: Remember to back up your data from the old PC before uninstalling Windows.
If you need assistance with creating installation media or performing the clean installation, feel free to ask for more guidance.
