I have a Windows 7 laptop wi-fi'ed to my Windows 7 desktop, both recently upgraded from Vista. The printer on the desktop is network-shared. On the desktop, under Power Options, Sleep, "allow wake timers" is enabled. Printing from the laptop under Vista could occur whether the desktop was awake or asleep. Now, under W7, printing occurs only when the desktop is awake. On the desktop, under Printer Properties, "sharing" tab, it reads: " The printer will not be available when the computer sleeps. To change these settings, use the Network and Sharing Center." However, I can find no option there to allow waking the desktop on a print request from the laptop.
How can I cause the desktop to awake on a laptop print request?
