Hi,
I have two USB pen drives. The same brand, storage size and model number.
OS : Win10 64bit 21H2
When I plug in USB pen drive #1, it has Win10 USB device connect sound.
Ex. USB device connect sound

But when I plug in USB pen drive #2, it doesn't have device connect sound.
It should have the same behavior as drive #1.

Does anyone have experience to this issue ?

Rick

Solution
The issue you're facing with one USB pen drive (#2) not generating the device connect sound in Windows 10 while another drive does is unusual. To troubleshoot this problem, let's go through a few steps to identify and potentially resolve the issue:
  1. Check USB Port & Drive:
    • Test the USB pen drive #2 in different USB ports to rule out any port-specific issues.
    • Try using USB pen drive #1 in the same port where USB pen drive #2 is not generating the sound to confirm if the issue is specific to drive #2.
    []Device Manager:
    • Open Device Manager and expand the section for "Universal Serial Bus controllers."
    • Check if there are any warning symbols (yellow triangle) next to the USB device entries...

    • Open Device Manager and expand the section for "Universal Serial Bus controllers."
    • Check if there are any warning symbols (yellow triangle) next to the USB device entries, indicating a problem with the driver.
    [
    ]Driver Update:
    • Right-click on the problematic USB device entry in Device Manager and select "Update driver."
    • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software" to check if an updated driver is available.
    []Sound Settings:
    • Check the sound settings in Windows to ensure the device connect sound isn't muted or set to a low volume.
    • Right-click on the Volume icon in the taskbar, select Sounds, and verify under the "Sounds" tab that the "Device Connect" sound is enabled and set to an audible level.
    [
]Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver:
    • USB drivers might depend on the Universal Audio Architecture Bus Driver. If missing or corrupt, it can cause issues with sound notification.
    • Update the UAA driver from the official website or Windows Update.
    []Troubleshooting Sound Quality & Devices:
    • Run the built-in Windows troubleshooter for Audio Playback to diagnose and potentially fix issues.
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters, then find and run the "Playing Audio" troubleshooter.
    [
    ]System Reboot:
    • After trying the above steps, reboot your system to apply any changes and see if the device connect sound issue is resolved. If the issue persists, it might be due to a driver conflict, hardware problem, or system-specific issue. Further diagnosis may require more in-depth troubleshooting or professional assistance for a detailed analysis. Let me know if you need guidance on specific steps or encounter any challenges.
