Nokia may bypass Microsoft and instead use its MeeGo operating system as it looks for ways into the crowded tablet market. The Finnish mobile device manufacturer recently announced a partnership with Microsoft to develop the first Windows Phone-based Nokia smartphones but the companies will not necessarily be working on a tablet together, claims a Reuters source. A Microsoft tablet is not expected until the end of next year and will be based on the new Windows 8 PC operating system rather than its Windows Phone software. Intel is understood to be looking forto establish its position in the wireless market.
