Nvidia has announced a significant extension of support for Windows 10 users, alongside enhancements to its G-Sync technology. The latest GeForce Game Ready Driver introduces expanded compatibility for Windows 10 devices and adds support for 62 additional G-Sync compatible monitors. This driver is available for immediate download from Nvidia's official website.
Microsoft plans to end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. In response, Nvidia has committed to providing full Game Ready Driver support for GeForce RTX GPUs on Windows 10 until October 2026, extending support by an additional year beyond Microsoft's end-of-life date. This extension ensures that users will continue to receive day-zero optimizations for new games and applications, offering additional time for those who have not yet transitioned to a newer operating system.
Data indicates that Windows 10 remains widely used, even a decade after its initial release. As of July 2025, Windows 11 had only recently surpassed Windows 10 in market share, holding 52% of the Windows market compared to 44.59% for Windows 10. This widespread usage underscores the importance of Nvidia's extended support for Windows 10 users.
For users of older Nvidia GPUs, the company has outlined a phased support plan. After a final Game Ready Driver release in October 2025, GeForce GPUs based on the Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta architectures will transition to receiving quarterly security updates for the next three years, through October 2028. This approach extends the total support lifespan of these GPUs to up to 11 years, well beyond industry norms.
However, support updates for Nvidia’s CUDA architecture will be discontinued for these older cards in the upcoming CUDA Toolkit update. This change will affect users leveraging these GPUs for CUDA-based applications, necessitating consideration of hardware upgrades for continued CUDA support.
The latest Game Ready Driver update also introduces support for 62 additional monitors compatible with Nvidia’s G-Sync variable refresh rate technology. This expansion enhances the gaming experience by reducing screen tearing and providing smoother visuals across a broader range of displays.
Furthermore, the update includes performance improvements for the game "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33" and offers optimizations for "Mafia: The Old Country," set to release on August 8th. These enhancements demonstrate Nvidia's ongoing commitment to delivering optimized gaming experiences for its users.
In summary, Nvidia's extension of Windows 10 support and the addition of G-Sync compatible monitors reflect the company's dedication to its user base. By providing continued driver support and expanding hardware compatibility, Nvidia ensures that users can maintain optimal performance and enjoy the latest gaming experiences, even as operating systems and hardware evolve.
