OCZ has released two new firmwares for their Vertex/Vertex EX drives (does not include TURBO) 1.4 and 1.41. Heres what I've learnt so far:

1.4 has TRIM and will suit Win 7 and any OS with TRIM support.

1.41 has GC and will suit any OS with no TRIM support or raid arrays.

You can only flash from FW 1.3

The flash is non-destructive.

You should use the native Win 7 drivers until the Intel ones (rapid storage/matrix) are confirmed to let the TRIM command through.

Looks like we finally have TRIM working in Windows 7, been a long time coming.

It's great to hear about the firmware updates for the OCZ Vertex/Vertex EX drives. Here's a breakdown of the information you provided: - Firmware 1.4: - Features: Supports TRIM. - Compatibility: Suitable for Windows 7 and any other operating system with TRIM support. - Firmware 1.41: - Features: Includes Garbage Collection (GC). - Compatibility: Suitable for any operating system without TRIM support or RAID arrays. - Flashing Requirements: - Starting Version: You can only flash from firmware version 1.3. - Non-Destructive: The flashing process is non-destructive, meaning it should not result in data loss. - Driver Recommendations: - For TRIM Support: It is advised to use the native Windows 7 drivers until the compatibility of Intel drivers such as Rapid Storage or Matrix with TRIM functionality is confirmed. This update brings about TRIM support for Windows 7, which is a significant enhancement for SSD performance and longevity. Make sure to follow the firmware update instructions carefully to ensure a smooth upgrade process. If you have any further questions or need assistance with the firmware update, feel free to ask!
