I just installed a few plugins for my lessons on Stepping Stones. Now my PSPX2 will not respond. I tried uninstalling Eye candy 4000, but that wasn’t it so I reinstalled it. Here is what happens: I open PSP and it opens quite quickly. The message center comes up asking me to install the free update for PSP. I usually just close that and go on to PSP. However, that screen comes up and it is blank. Then I am not able to click on anything. I have had windows 7 now for roughly 3 weeks w/o any problems until now.

TIA.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue with PSPX2:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Plugin Compatibility:
    • Make sure that the plugins you installed are compatible with PSPX2 and Windows 7. Incompatibility can lead to instability issues.
    []Safe Mode:
    • Try launching PSPX2 in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. Safe Mode disables non-essential plugins and settings, which can help identify if the problem is related to a specific plugin.
    [
    ]Disable Plugins:
    • Disable all plugins one by one and try launching PSPX2 after each disable to identify if a specific plugin is causing the issue.
[]Update Corel Paint Shop Pro X2:
    • Ensure that PSPX2 is up to date by installing any available updates. This can sometimes resolve compatibility issues with newer plugins.
    [
    ]Clear Preferences:
    • Reset PSPX2 preferences to default settings. This can be done by locating the preferences file and either deleting it or renaming it to create a new one.
    []Check System Resources:
    • Ensure that your system has enough resources (RAM, CPU, disk space) available for PSPX2 to operate smoothly. Insufficient resources can cause apps to become unresponsive.
    [
    ]Run as Administrator:
    • Try running PSPX2 as an administrator to see if it resolves the issue. Right-click on the shortcut or executable and select "Run as administrator."
  2. Reinstall PSPX2:
    • If all else fails, you can try uninstalling PSPX2 completely, including all plugins, and then reinstalling it from scratch.

      Additional Tips:

      • Backup Before Uninstalling: Before uninstalling or making significant changes, it's a good idea to back up any important projects or files associated with PSPX2.
      • Check System Logs: Check Windows Event Viewer for any error messages related to PSPX2 or the plugins that might provide more insight into the issue.
Try these steps and see if any of them help resolve the unresponsiveness issue with your PSPX2. If the problem persists, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
