Hopefully you guys can help me out since this is driving me insane. When I wake the computer from sleep mode, my monitor displays an image that is half blacked out. If I mouse over the black areas or maximize a new window, then those areas show up. I have no idea what is causing it.

Hardware:
P5W-DH motherboard w/Q6600 and 4gb ram
Radeon 4650 with newest Catalyst drivers
Don't know the make and model of the HDDs and DVD-Drive off hand.

Windows 64 Ultimate.

Solution
The issue you are experiencing with your monitor displaying blacked-out areas upon waking the computer from sleep mode can be frustrating. This problem might be related to graphics drivers, power settings, or even the monitor itself. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Update Graphics Drivers:
    • Verify that you have the latest drivers for your Radeon 4650 graphics card installed. Outdated drivers can cause display issues. You mentioned having the newest Catalyst drivers, but it's worth double-checking for any updates.
    []Adjust Power Settings:
    • Check your power settings to ensure that the computer and monitor are set to wake up properly...

  1. Update Graphics Drivers:

    []Adjust Power Settings:
    • Check your power settings to ensure that the computer and monitor are set to wake up properly from sleep mode. Sometimes, changing power settings can resolve display issues.
    [
    ]Monitor Connections:
    • Make sure that the cables connecting your monitor to the PC are secure and not loose. A loose connection can also cause display problems.
    []Monitor Settings:
    • Access the monitor settings menu and check for any unusual settings that might be causing this issue. Resetting the monitor settings to default can sometimes help.
    [
    ]Graphics Card Settings:
    • Check the graphics card settings (usually accessible through the AMD Catalyst Control Center) for any settings that might affect the display upon waking from sleep mode.
    []Check for Windows Updates:
    • Ensure that your Windows 7 Ultimate system is up to date with the latest updates from Microsoft. Sometimes, system updates can include fixes for display-related issues.
    [
    ]Monitor Firmware Update:
    • If available, check if there are any firmware updates for your monitor. Updating the monitor firmware might address compatibility issues.
  2. Monitor Test:
    • If possible, connect your computer to a different monitor to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the monitor itself. Given these steps, I recommend starting with updating the graphics drivers and checking power settings. If the issue persists, you can proceed with the other troubleshooting steps. Remember to restart your computer after making any changes to see if the issue is resolved. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you have any other details to provide!
