Windows 7 Phantom Floppy drive

I just made a post today in the BSOD section about a unknown driver causing a memory problem. My comp went haywire earlier this week and long story short I had to reinstall windows. After I reisntalled and everything got stable again I noticed something odd listed under my computer, but thought nothing of it.


It lists that I have a floppy drive.......but I actually don't have one....all I have is a CD drive. I physically do not have a floppy drive and it says in my device manager I do. if I uninstall it and restart it comes back. Also if I search for new hardware it picks up this phantom floppy drive.

Where did this come from and could it be causing my problems?

Have you gone into your Bios and disabled it? That should fix the problem.

Floppy drive had been enabled in my BIOS settings.
