I, like many, have a NVidia card. Some time ago NVidia offered a driver for Windows8. Even, after grabbing that, I continued to have video occasional vid issues. Ergo, I would check Update Driver & be told it was a good as could be. Was getting some hiccups, again, today & checked, again. This time Win8 ran off searching and this time found, DLed & installed driver software. Things, so far, seem better now. If, this applies to you, you might care to investigate for yourself, also. I'm talking about via Device Mgr.

Cheers,
Drew

It sounds like you were experiencing occasional video issues with your NVidia graphics card on Windows 8 and found that manually updating the driver software through Device Manager helped improve the performance. Regularly updating your graphics card drivers can indeed have a significant impact on the stability and performance of your system, especially when encountering video-related problems. Sometimes, the default drivers provided by Windows may not be the latest or most optimized for your specific hardware, which can lead to issues like video hiccups.
If you find that updating the drivers through Device Manager has improved the situation, it's a good practice to keep an eye on driver updates from NVidia's official website or through the NVidia GeForce Experience application, if you have it installed. This way, you can ensure that you are always running the latest and most compatible drivers for your NVidia graphics card.
If you encounter any further problems or have any questions about optimizing your graphics card performance, feel free to ask!
