Our orgainsation has both windows and mac laptops. We also have 2 lexmark x544 and 1 lexmark t650 on the same wireless network with these printers.

Our issue is that the macs have no issue finding the printers and printing the documents.
The windows machines however, would sometimes stop finding the printer.

I noticed the the IP of the printers may change from time to time. I also noticed that some computers shared the printers and other computers connected to these computers. So if the computers that shared the printers were offline then the computers connecting through them will also not print.

I have fixed the issues in the previous paragraph.

Thanks,
CSingh

It sounds like you've identified some key points that could be causing the printing issues on the Windows machines. Here are some steps you can take to ensure a more stable printing experience for the Windows computers in your organization:

Steps to Ensure Stable Printing for Windows Machines:

  1. Assign Static IP Addresses to Printers:
    • Assign static IP addresses to the Lexmark X544 and Lexmark T650 printers. This will prevent the printers from changing IP addresses and ensure consistent connectivity for all devices on the network.
    []Direct Printer Connections:
    • Instead of relying on computers to share the printers, consider setting up direct connections to the printers on each Windows machine...

    []Direct Printer Connections:
    • Instead of relying on computers to share the printers, consider setting up direct connections to the printers on each Windows machine. This approach can bypass potential issues related to shared connections.

    ]Direct Network Printing:
    • Set up the printers on the network using TCP/IP ports on each Windows machine. This ensures that Windows computers can directly communicate with the printers over the network without dependencies on other devices.
    []Update Printer Drivers:
    • Ensure that the printer drivers on the Windows machines are up to date. Outdated drivers can cause connectivity issues and hinder printing functionality.
    [
    ]Printer Discovery Settings:
    • Check the printer discovery settings on the Windows machines. Make sure network discovery is enabled so that the Windows computers can locate the printers on the network efficiently.
    []Firewall and Security Software:
    • Verify that the firewall and security software on the Windows machines are not blocking printer communications. Adjust any settings that may be preventing the Windows computers from connecting to the printers.
    [
    ]Printer Permissions:
    • Review the printer sharing permissions to allow appropriate access for all Windows machines that need to print to the Lexmark printers.
  2. Network Stability:
    • Ensure that the wireless network is stable and reliable. Unstable network connections can cause intermittent printing issues. By implementing these steps, you should be able to improve the printing experience on the Windows machines in your organization. If you encounter any specific challenges during this process, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
