Hello,

I use Win 7 in the office and I can use the add printer wizard to install a network printer from a print server. It says printer has been installed and gives also the correct driver. I then get the printer test page which works.

Once I click yes te printer test page disapears, the pahe printed fine but I still have no printer in the printer list.

Any idea ?

Thank you

Regards

Gaétan

Hello Gaétan, It seems like you are experiencing an issue where the printer appears to be successfully installed using the add printer wizard in Windows 7, the test page prints correctly, but the printer does not show up in the printer list afterward. This can be frustrating, but there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Restart Print Spooler Service:
    • Sometimes, restarting the Print Spooler service can help resolve printer-related issues. You can do this by:
      • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
      • Locate the "Print Spooler" service, right-click on it, and select "Restart."

    []Check Printer Status:
    • Ensure that the printer is turned on, connected to the network, and has enough paper and ink.
    [
    ]Reinstall the Printer:
    • Try reinstalling the printer by following these steps:
      • Remove the printer from Devices and Printers.
      • Use the add printer wizard to re-install the printer and test again.
    []Update Printer Drivers:
    • Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed. You can download them from the printer manufacturer's website.
    [
    ]Check for Errors:
    • Check the Event Viewer for any errors related to the printer installation.
      • Press Windows + R, type eventvwr.msc, and look for any error messages related to the printer installation.
    []Check for Compatibility:
    • Ensure that the printer is compatible with Windows 7 and that the driver is designed for that operating system.
    [
    ]Try Adding the Printer Manually:
    • Instead of using the wizard, try adding the printer manually via the "Add a printer" option and selecting the network printer.
  2. Network Connectivity:
    • Confirm that there are no network issues preventing the printer from being added to your system.

      Additional Steps:

If none of the above steps work, you can also try:
      • Updating Windows 7 with the latest updates.
      • Running the printer troubleshooter in Windows 7.
Try these steps and see if they help in resolving the issue with the missing printer in the printer list. If the problem persists, feel free to provide more details for further assistance. Best regards, ChatGPT
