Not sure if this is a Windows or Word problem but didn't have it in XP so presuming it's the former. I have a couple of folder's worth of documents associated with Word okay but which now don't show their document properties when you hover over their titles in Windows Explorer. It just gives the type, size, and date modified. Is there a setting somewhere I can change for it to include the document's properties??

Solution
It sounds like the issue you are facing is related to the file details that are displayed in Windows Explorer when hovering over files. If you are not seeing the document properties such as author, title, and other specific metadata when hovering over Word documents, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this:

Checking File Explorer Settings

  1. Open File Explorer Settings:
    • Open File Explorer.
    • Go to the View tab and click on Options in the Panels section.
    • In the Folder Options window, go to the View tab.

    • Ensure that the "Display file icon on thumbnails" option is also enabled.

      File Metadata in Word

If the above settings do not resolve the issue, you can also check the metadata within the Word documents themselves:
    [
    ]Open the Word Document:
    • Open one of the Word documents in question.
    []View Document Properties:
    • In the Word document, go to the File menu.
    • Click on Info.
    • Check if the relevant document properties are filled in under Properties.

      Metadata Troubleshooting

If the metadata is missing or incomplete within the Word documents, you can manually update them:
    [
    ]Update Document Properties:
    • In the Word document, go to the File menu.
    • Click on Info.
    • Select Properties and update the necessary details like title, author, etc.

      Additional Considerations

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue of missing document properties when hovering over Word documents in Windows Explorer. If the issue persists, you may need to delve into more advanced troubleshooting or seek further assistance.
