Hi, my computer is crashing when playing games. it doesn't matter what game it is, first it crashed 3 times in Skyrim and now it crashed in Minecraft "I think it crashed once while surfing the web too". I analyzed my mini dumps and they seem to point to my graphics drivers. I've re-installed the driver and tried to update DirectX but that didn't help. In administrative events, there are numerous entries for errors and warnings.

I just hope that I don't have to buy any new GPUs :frown:

Thanks for any help.

It sounds like you're facing issues with your computer crashing during gaming sessions, even in less graphic-intensive games like Minecraft. Since you mentioned that the mini dumps are pointing towards graphics drivers as the potential culprit, we can explore some troubleshooting steps to address this issue before considering more drastic measures like replacing the GPU. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the crashing issue:

1. Update Graphics Drivers:

It sounds like you're facing issues with your computer crashing during gaming sessions, even in less graphic-intensive games like Minecraft. Since you mentioned that the mini dumps are pointing towards graphics drivers as the potential culprit, we can explore some troubleshooting steps to address this issue before considering more drastic measures like replacing the GPU. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the crashing issue:

1. Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Make sure you have the latest graphics drivers installed for your GPU. You mentioned that you re-installed the drivers, but it's worth checking if the most recent version is installed. You can download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website.

    2. Check System Requirements:

  • Ensure that your system meets the minimum requirements for the games you're playing, including graphics card specifications.

    3. Monitor Temperatures:

  • Overheating can cause crashes during gaming. Monitor your GPU temperature using monitoring software like MSI Afterburner or HWMonitor to check if overheating is a factor.

    4. DirectX Diagnostic Tool:

  • Run the DirectX Diagnostic Tool to check for any DirectX-related issues. Press Win + R, type dxdiag, and press Enter. Check for any errors in the diagnostic tool.

    5. Windows Update:

  • Make sure your operating system is up to date with the latest Windows updates.

    6. Event Viewer:

  • Investigate the errors and warnings in the Event Viewer for more specific information on the crashes. Look for any patterns or commonalities in the logged events.

    7. Power Supply:

  • Insufficient power supply can also cause crashes. Ensure your power supply is adequate for the GPU and other components.

    8. Clean Installation of Drivers:

  • Perform a clean installation of the graphics drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). This ensures a thorough removal of old drivers before installing the new ones.

    9. Check for Hardware Issues:

  • If the issue persists, it may be worth checking for hardware issues. Run hardware diagnostics to check the health of your components.

    10. Professional Assistance:

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, consider seeking help from a professional technician who can diagnose and address the problem accurately. By following these steps, you should be able to narrow down the cause of the crashes and hopefully find a solution without needing to purchase a new GPU. Let me know if you need further assistance with any of these steps!
