Some of the most simple commands in Windows often go overlooked. Determine how to repair and fix your hard drive from within Windows. Determine if there is a problem with the hard disk in the form of file system corruption or bad sectors (disk errors). Analyze or export this data to make an assessment about the condition of your hard drive. Examins the chkdsk utility and the Computer Management MMC console.
If Windows finds problems with the hard drive, specifically with bad sectors, it will go ahead and stop writing to those bad sectors. It would also try to repair file system problems that are very extensive.
