Hi, is there anything to patch up the problem I've had since I bought my computer in January (7 Home Premium). Whenever I right click in Windows Explorer or on the desktop it will freeze and close the program. Also, is there a way to choose what icons are shown on the left navigation of Windows Explorer? (I am referring to Windows Explorer in Windows 7; not Internet Explorer). Thanks.

Solution
It seems like you are encountering a couple of issues with your Windows 7 Home Premium system. Let's address each of your concerns:

Fixing the Freezing Issue when Right-Clicking in Windows Explorer or on the Desktop:

  1. Check for Software Conflicts or Third-Party Shell Extensions:
    • Sometimes, third-party software or shell extensions can cause conflicts leading to freezing when right-clicking. You can try disabling them to see if the issue persists.
    []Run Windows Update:
    • Ensure that your system is up to date with the latest updates and patches. Sometimes, Microsoft releases fixes for such issues through Windows Update.

    • Perform a full system scan with your antivirus software to rule out any malware or virus causing the freezing issue.
    []Check Event Viewer:
    • Look for any error messages related to the freezing in the Event Viewer. This may provide more specific details about what is causing the problem.

Customizing Icons Shown in the Left Navigation of Windows Explorer:

In Windows 7, you can customize the icons shown in the left navigation pane of Windows Explorer. Here's how you can do it:
    [
]Open Windows Explorer. []Click on "Organize" in the top left corner. []Select "Layout" and then click on "Navigation pane."
  2. You can choose the options like "Show all folders" or "Favorites" to customize what icons are displayed in the left navigation pane. If you need further assistance or encounter any difficulties while trying these solutions, feel free to provide more details for additional troubleshooting steps!
