This laptop has some boot issues about once every week or so and also locks up. I ran the usual virus and malware scans with very few results. I did a chkdsk /r and it found no problem. I then ran sfc /scannow and this is the message I received: "Windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some"
It referred me to a cbs log in the Windows directory but I could not locate it. I made sure hidden files were being shown in control panel.
Any help is appreciated...

Solution
Run a Command Prompt as an Administrator and try the following:
SET WINDOWS_TRACING_LOGFILE=C:\CBS.log
sfc /scannow
Now see if the C:\CBS.log file exists.
SET WINDOWS_TRACING_LOGFILE=C:\CBS.log
sfc /scannow
Now see if the C:\CBS.log file exists.
