Hello,
I am trying to upload some pics to Google+. When the dialogue box pops us for me to select my pics, I am not allowed to select multiple files through any of the traditional methods I am used to, i.e. SHIFT, CTRL, etc. I am not very experienced with W7, so it's possible I may be missing something here. I am using IE8 on W7 Pro 64 Bit. When I click on the browser button to add photos to my album, a dialogue box opens entitled "Choose File to Upload" (and I think the operative word here is "File" not "Files").

On a side note... I am just not terribly happy with W7 from a user perspective. I have been using and supporting XP for many years and I find that many things that were very easy to manage in XP are now more troublesome to locate and manage in W7. This particular scenario being an example of that. Am I alone on this?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Solution
It sounds like you're facing a challenge when trying to upload multiple pictures to Google+ using Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Windows 7 introduced changes compared to Windows XP, which may feel unfamiliar at first. Let's address your concerns:

Uploading Multiple Files on Internet Explorer 8:

  • In Internet Explorer 8, the native file upload dialog typically does not support selecting multiple files at once. You usually have to select files one by one.
  • However, some websites provide their own custom upload dialog that may allow multiple file selection. Google+ might not support this feature on older browsers like IE8.

Windows 7 User Experience:

Windows 7 User Experience:

  • Transitioning from Windows XP to Windows 7 can indeed be a bit challenging due to the differences in interface and functionality. Windows 7 introduced several improvements over XP, but it might take time to get used to them.
  • Windows 7 has a more modern and secure architecture compared to XP, which enhances performance and security.

Recommendations:

  1. Browser Upgrade: Consider upgrading your browser to a more modern one like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. These browsers are better optimized for modern websites and offer better support for multiple file uploads.
  2. Compatibility Mode: If you prefer using Internet Explorer, you can try enabling Compatibility View in IE8. This mode helps display websites as if you were using an earlier version of the browser, which might help with compatibility issues.
  3. Windows 7 Features: Explore Windows 7 features gradually to familiarize yourself with the changes. The Control Panel, Libraries, and Taskbar are some areas where significant improvements have been made over XP. It's common to feel a bit frustrated when transitioning between operating systems, but with a bit of exploration and adaptation, you may find Windows 7 to be more efficient and secure in the long run.
