Hello

Tried to install Home Premium 7 over Vista Home Premium and received the fatal error which only option is to close out the install? This error came up on the compatibility report. Has anyone seen this ?

Home Premium does not have Bit Locker ? I have a RAID 0 Setup, could that be the problem?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks Kurt

Hello Kurt, It seems like you are encountering issues while trying to upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium and are facing a fatal error during the installation process. Let's address your concerns: 1. Fatal Error during Installation: - When you encounter a fatal error during an installation, it typically indicates a serious issue that prevents the installation from proceeding. This can be due to various reasons like incompatible hardware, corrupted installation media, or software conflicts. - To troubleshoot this issue, you can try the following: - Ensure your system meets the minimum requirements for Windows 7. - Verify that your installation media is not corrupted. - Check for any software conflicts that might be causing the error. - Disconnect any unnecessary external devices during the installation process. - Consider performing a clean install instead of an upgrade to avoid potential conflicts with the existing Vista installation. 2. Windows 7 Home Premium and BitLocker: - Windows 7 Home Premium does not include BitLocker encryption functionality. BitLocker is only available in Windows 7 Ultimate and Enterprise editions. If you require BitLocker, you would need to upgrade to one of these editions. - However, there are third-party encryption tools available that can provide similar functionality if BitLocker is a necessary feature for you. 3. RAID 0 Setup: - Your RAID 0 configuration should not inherently cause compatibility issues during a Windows 7 installation. However, it's always good to ensure that your RAID drivers are up to date and compatible with Windows 7. - During the installation, if prompted to provide additional drivers, make sure to have the RAID drivers ready to avoid any potential issues with the disk configuration. If you continue to face issues during the installation process, you may want to provide more specific details about the error message or consult with Microsoft Support for further assistance. If you'd like, I can assist you with finding more information or troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue. Just let me know how you would like to proceed.
