After running sfc I open the win/logs/cbs.log to find the scan results. It's all greek to me. sfc says it repaired some but not all files. Can anyone help with advice on getting a clear picture of the sfc scan & the repair actions?

Hi! Same results here. I have an untested idea. I was thinking of simply replacing the file with a picture of the file it had when it was new. What do you think? Of coarse, my computer did not have SP1 then. Seems like a lot of trouble to manually correct.

Using 'Google' I found this:

 That is what I used to get the results mentioned above. It fixed some files but could not fix everything. Then it referred to the cbs file (with that I'm on my own --kind of reference) And did not require the Vista Installation Disc. I've read on the forums that it is a good idea to fix the cbs file, but I don't know how.

Solution
Thanks all. Still confused but don't think it's that important for me to know any more then I do now.
Seems it is the nature of Vista not to keep things simple.
