It seems like you're facing connectivity issues with your SMCWPCI-G2 Wi-Fi card on Windows 7 x64. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and try to establish an internet connection:

Steps to Resolve Internet Connection Issue:

  1. Driver Installation:
    • Windows 7 Drivers: If possible, try to find specific Windows 7 64-bit drivers for your SMCWPCI-G2 Wi-Fi card. Using Vista drivers might cause compatibility issues.
    • Driver Compatibility Mode: If Windows 7 drivers are not available, you can try installing the Vista drivers in compatibility mode. Right-click on the driver setup file, go to Properties, and under the Compatibility tab, select the option to run in compatibility mode for Windows...

    []Ethernet Connection:
    • Realtek RTL8168/8111 NIC: Since you're also facing issues with the Ethernet connection, make sure the drivers for the Realtek RTL8168/8111 Gigabit Ethernet NIC are properly installed. You might need to download and install the latest drivers directly from the Realtek website.
    [
    ]Windows Update:
    • After ensuring that drivers are correctly installed, run Windows Update to check for any additional driver updates that may be available for your network devices.
    []Network Troubleshooter:
    • Use the built-in Windows Network Troubleshooter to diagnose and fix common network connection issues. You can access this tool by right-clicking on the network icon in the system tray and selecting Troubleshoot problems.
    [
    ]Device Manager:
    • Check Device Manager to ensure that your Wi-Fi card and Ethernet adapter are both recognized without any errors. Look for any exclamation marks or warning signs next to the network adapters.
    []Restart Networking Services:
    • Sometimes restarting network services can help. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following commands:
      Code:
netsh winsock reset netsh int ip reset ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew
    [
    ]Network Configuration:
    • Check your network settings to ensure that there are no conflicting configurations. You can reset TCP/IP stack and reset the Winsock catalog by running commands in Command Prompt:
      Code:
netsh int ip reset reset.log netsh winsock reset catalog
  2. Reboot:
    • After making these changes, restart your computer to apply the settings.

      Additional Notes:

      • Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking your network connections.
      • Verify that the Wi-Fi card is enabled in the BIOS settings of your computer.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully resolve the internet connection issues on your Windows 7 system.
