Windows Vista soft dvd sound

hi there,

i need some advice please. i have a new laptop with vista and i find that the sound when playing dvd's is extremely soft. the audio with music is fine.

is there anything i can do to increase the volume when playing dvd's?
i've tried all the little tweaks i can think of. is there a program i can download or something? the sound is conexant.

cheers, that worked, the vlc player had the biggest effect.
