alg_sophia_loren_split.jpgSophia Loren, who turned 75 in September, proved she is still every inch a movie star as she presented the award for best foreign film at the Golden Globes on Sunday.

Say what you might about her eye-glasses or her form-fitting gown with its revealing neckline, or the sheer sleeves that are likely a slight concession to her age, since after a certain point shoulder-bearing looks are just a bad idea, even for a looker of Loren's ilk.

Yes, she wore a lot of make-up, though at least she toned down the over-baked tan she's sported at other awards shows. Like too much skin, after a certain point the bronzed goddess look won't work on anyone anymore, either.

But even those who might not give her a perfect style score would have to admit - she's holding up awfully well.

The actress, who began her film career in her native Italy before becoming a star in the U.S. in the late 50s and early 60s with movies like "El Cid" (1961), won an Oscar in 1962 for her role in "La Ciociara" (1960), in which she plays a woman fleeing the Allied bombing of Rome with her daughter during World War II.

Always considered a stunner, Loren can currently be seen on the big screen in the star-studded cast of "Nine," in which she plays the deceased mother of Daniel Day-Lewis' Italian film director, a man overwhelmed by the many women in his life.

At Sunday's Globes, where she handed the award for best foreign film to Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke's "The White Ribbon," photographers reportedly couldn't get enough of her.

How many 75-year-old actresses can say that?
