Windows 7 SP 1 Update Win 7 64bit

I have attempted several times to update SP1
Is there any tool to fix,have tried update readiness tool ,update repair tool and even upgrade of win7 but errors stop installation.

Using this Link Removed as a reference, the error seems to mean the files cannot be found.

One reason for this might be that you have hidden them. If not that, perhaps you have had some failed updates or ones that have not been able to update.

The site refers to two locations where these files should be located. The Windows\winsxs and Windows\servicing\packages. You might check to see if they really are missing and I do have them. You should see at least two versions of each file, a .cat and .mum and searching for the 6.1.7600.16385 and then the Netfx or whatever should show them.

If you do not have them and the updates have not been installed, then unless you can find some clues, we might have to see if we can tie a KB number to the updates so you can download them.

I will check the registry now to see if I can see how it should look so you can compare that. Registry locations are also listed on the website.

I don't know if this is what is keeping your SP1 from installing, but it is a place to start.

Since I do not know what specific steps to take to repair only the 4 items, I will suggest the this Microsoft Link where several sites are listed to check. Basically they use the process of renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder which causes Windows 7 to rebuild the updates system. I only suggest the first response with the links, so I am not suggesting you do things in the replies below that.

I have my local Shop working on a fix but would like to resolve myself as a 70 year old its nice being classed as a Junior member.
