The Terms of Service of this website has been amended to reflect the FOLLOWING:

Spam: There is a ZERO TOLERANCE policy in regards to spam on Windows7Forums.com. Do not advertise your websites, market your products, promote your get-rich-quick scheme, over the counter pills, or other nonsense on this website. Do not create multiple accounts to have conversations with yourself about how great your company's software package is. You will be removed, your IPs will be blocked, and if possible, you will be reported to spam reporting agencies and your ISP. There is no exception to this rule and spam-related bans are permanent.

Please do not spam. We do not want viagra. We do not want to buy from your store. We do not want to remove DRM off DVD by buying your product. We do not need you to try and create a hundred backlinks to your site that contains viral content. Thanks!

Post Counting Prohibition

Please note that the forum ToS (Terms of Service) has changed:

NEW:

Post Counting: Posts that are soley intended to increase a user's post count for whatever reason will be deleted and further action may be taken. Please do not try to increase your post count by posting garbage.

Hi Mike,
I dont really see why you ever used post counting or assigned "member, senior member etc" I dont think anyone really cares. A regular on here soon gets to know who are the men with the gen but I dont think anyone who replies to problems does anything but try to help. Sometimes I put a spoke in just so that when the answer to the problem is found I get told by email and I learn from it.

Hi nehoma.
It was an onging argument on the forum (and other sites) Several sites have dropped it now. I was one of the main campaigners to stop it. But, having said that, often pure garbage comes down as "help" - probably from me as well sometimes! It can be useful to have some kind of rank or other indication on the reliability of the poster.

Further Spam Based Restrictions

Registrations are now checked via two anti-spam databases instead of one. The new one maintains a record going back 90 days of known spammer user names, e-mail addresses, and IP addresses, with the goal to completely reduce spam posts.

To discourage spam, guest users/non-registered members will no longer see signatures. It is also possible for registered members to disable viewing signatures in the User Control Panel options.

In addition, the following restrictions have been put into effect for new members only:

  • New members cannot post links, images, or e-mails until they reach 1 post.
  • New members cannot create their own blog until they reach 5 posts.
  • New members cannot post visitor messages until they reach 1 post.
  • New members cannot create albums until they reach 5 posts.
  • New members cannot post picture comments until they reach 1 post.
  • New members cannot post new visitor messages until they reach 1 post.
  • New members cannot create new social groups until they reach 5 posts.
  • New members cannot post group messages until they reach 1 post.
  • New members cannot send private messages until they reach 1 post.
These restrictions do not apply to Premium Members.

An additional 32 would-be spammers have been banned today, after attempts to spam members through visitor messaging were captured by our complex spam detection systems. Their attempts have fallen by the wayside, and now they are banned permanently.
