Windows 7 Speech Recognition

I added Speech Recognition to my Win 7 and cannot get the console off the screen. I can`t X out or minimize it. I can`t get it off the task bar. Everything seems to be stuck on "Starting Speech Recognition". Any help to alleviate will be appreciated.

Malcolm have you tried right-clicking on the task bar and starting up the task manager? You should be able to shut it down using that app.
