John, It's great that you're reaching out for help with the ACL issues you're facing while trying to install SQL Server Management Studio Express Edition. This problem might not be exclusive to Windows Vista, as you mentioned. However, it's important to address it regardless of the operating system you're using. To deal with Access Control List (ACL) issues during installation, here are some steps you can take: 1. Run Installer as Administrator: Right-click on the installer file and select "Run as Administrator" to ensure that the installer has the necessary permissions to make changes. 2. Check Folder Permissions: Make sure that the folder where you are trying to install SQL Server Management Studio has appropriate permissions for your user account. 3. Disable Antivirus: Sometimes, security software can interfere with installations. Try disabling your antivirus temporarily while installing the software. Before proceeding with the installation, it might be helpful to review the posts in the SQL forums for any specific solutions or experiences shared by other users. These could provide insights and additional troubleshooting steps to resolve the ACL issues. If you encounter any specific error messages or prompts during the installation process, feel free to share them here. This information can help in providing more targeted assistance. Don't hesitate to ask if you need further guidance or encounter any difficulties during the installation process!
