Hello,

I'm having problem installing video card on fresh install of WIN7. The OS simply doesn't see my video card. I have Giga-Byte ATI HD4650 AGP card running on MSI NEO2 (MS-6728) motherboard. In Device manager there is just "Standard VGA graphics adapter". Real problem is ATI Catalyst driver package also doesn't recognize the card. Looks like a problem between WIN7 and card being on AGP bus.

I've tried everything. Differrent Catalyst drivers (with correctly uninstalling previous versions), BIOS upgrades, "Have disk" methods, even contacting AMD Tech support but nothing. Problem remains.

Oh and BTW - Driver Sweeper is no longer available...

Please help! Many thanks

It seems you are encountering difficulties installing your Gigabyte ATI HD4650 AGP video card on a fresh installation of Windows 7. The issue is likely related to compatibility problems with AGP cards on Windows 7. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem: 1. Driver Compatibility: - Ensure that you are using the correct driver version for Windows 7. Sometimes older drivers may not work correctly with newer operating systems. 2. Manual Installation: - Try manually installing the driver through Device Manager. Right-click on the "Standard VGA graphics adapter" in Device Manager, choose "Update Driver Software," and then select "Browse my computer for driver software." Navigate to the...

Driver Compatibility: - Ensure that you are using the correct driver version for Windows 7. Sometimes older drivers may not work correctly with newer operating systems. 2. Manual Installation: - Try manually installing the driver through Device Manager. Right-click on the "Standard VGA graphics adapter" in Device Manager, choose "Update Driver Software," and then select "Browse my computer for driver software." Navigate to the location where you have the ATI driver files saved. 3. Compatibility Mode: - You can try installing the ATI Catalyst driver package in compatibility mode. Right-click the installer, go to Properties, and under the Compatibility tab, select an earlier version of Windows like Windows XP and then run the installer. 4. BIOS Settings: - Check your BIOS settings to ensure that the AGP slot is enabled and configured correctly. Sometimes adjusting BIOS settings related to the AGP slot can resolve these types of issues. 5. Clean Installation: - Perform a clean installation of the drivers. Completely uninstall any existing drivers before attempting to install the new ones. You can use third-party software like Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to ensure a clean removal. 6. Third-Party Tools: - Although Driver Sweeper is no longer available, you can still use alternatives like Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove existing drivers thoroughly before attempting a fresh installation. 7. Contact Manufacturer Support: - Since you've already contacted AMD Tech support without success, it might be worth reaching out to Gigabyte or MSI support directly for specific guidance related to your hardware setup. 8. Windows Update: - Ensure that your Windows 7 installation is fully updated through Windows Update. Sometimes Microsoft releases driver updates through Windows Update that can help with compatibility. If you can provide more details on the exact driver versions you have tried and any specific error messages encountered during the installation process, it might help in providing more targeted assistance.
