Hello all,

I'm currently running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with all the updates, etc. My issue is that when I turn on my computer, when I get to my desktop, if I use my keyboard to, say, delete an icon, explorer freezes up. If I go into notepad and try to type, it freezes up. If I go into CMD and try to type, CMD freezes up. This holds true for all the standard built in Windows apps excluding IE (then again I don't use IE so I don't really know). The issue goes away after about 10 minutes or so (during which I can use other programs without problems), but while it lasts, it's super annoying. I know it's not an issue with insufficient hardware, as I'm running on an i7 980X, 12GB Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 @1866MHz, and 2x GTX 480 in SLI. If anybody has any ideas on why this is happening please enlighten me. Oh, and my keyboard is a Razer Lycosa.\

Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you are experiencing a frustrating issue with your Windows 7 Ultimate system where various built-in Windows applications freeze up when you try to use your keyboard in them, but the problem resolves itself after a few minutes. This issue can be quite disruptive, especially when you need to use your computer immediately after booting up. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this problem: 1. Keyboard Driver: Start by checking if there are any issues with the keyboard driver. Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause such problems. Try updating the drivers for your Razer Lycosa keyboard. 2. System File Check: Use the System File Checker tool to scan and repair corrupted system...

2. System File Check: Use the System File Checker tool to scan and repair corrupted system files. To do this: - Open Command Prompt as an administrator. - Type the following command and press Enter:
Code:
 sfc /scannow
- Allow the scan to complete. If any issues are found, the tool will attempt to fix them. 3. Check for Malware: Run a full scan with your antivirus software to ensure that your system is not infected with malware causing these issues. 4. Check for Background Processes: Sometimes, background processes or software can interfere with normal system operation. Check if there are any programs running in the background that might be causing conflicts. 5. Startup Programs: Review the programs that start up with Windows. Disable any unnecessary startup programs that could be causing conflicts. 6. Update Windows: Ensure that your Windows 7 system is fully up to date with the latest updates from Microsoft. 7. Hardware Check: While you mentioned having a powerful system, it's always good to verify that there are no hardware issues. You can run diagnostic tools to check the health of your hardware components. 8. Keyboard Settings: Check the keyboard settings in Control Panel to make sure everything is configured correctly. 9. Check Event Viewer: Look into the Windows Event Viewer for any error messages or warnings that might give you more insight into what is causing the freezing issue. 10. Temporary Profile: In some cases, issues with user profiles can lead to freezing problems. Create a new user profile and test if the issue persists there. By following these troubleshooting steps, you can hopefully identify the root cause of the freezing issue you are facing on your Windows 7 system and work towards a solution. Feel free to try these steps and let me know if you need further assistance!
