Hello.
I recently used System Restore to, well, restore the Windows 7 Basic theme to my computer (text colour was black on black windows) because when I went to change it, I got the error message "Theme could not be applied. Access is denied."
All worked out well, except that my Microsoft Works program (this I did not install, it came on my computer. Not a trial version.) is gone. It is still listed under Acer (C: )> Program files>Microsoft Works but I cannot run the program. Any of them. Trying to open existing documents prompts a program search.
there are no .exe or application files in any of the "Microsoft Works" program folder. Only "Application extension" files, along with the standard HTML and image/sound files.
I am running Windows 7 Starter
How can I solve this, if possible?

Solution
It seems like there might have been some corruption or deletion of important executable files for Microsoft Works on your computer, leading to the program not being able to run. Here are a couple of steps you can try to resolve this issue:

1. Repair Microsoft Works Installation:

You can attempt to repair the Microsoft Works installation to see if it resolves the issue. Here's how you can do it:
  1. Go to Control Panel.
  2. Open "Programs and Features."
  3. Locate Microsoft Works in the list of installed programs.
  4. Right-click on Microsoft Works and select "Repair." This might repair any missing or corrupted files that are preventing the program from running.

    2. Reinstall Microsoft Works:

    2. Reinstall Microsoft Works:

If repairing the installation doesn't work, you might need to reinstall Microsoft Works. Since it came pre-installed on your computer, you might be able to reinstall it from the Acer recovery partition. Here's how you can try this:
  5. Open the Acer (C:) drive and look for a folder related to Acer Recovery or similar.
  6. Check if there is an option to reinstall bundled software or restore settings.
  7. Look for Microsoft Works in the list of software that can be reinstalled.

    3. Download Microsoft Works:

If you can't find a way to reinstall Microsoft Works through the recovery partition, you might need to download Microsoft Works.
  8. Check if Microsoft Works is still available for download from the Microsoft website or any trusted software repositories.

4. Contact Acer Support:

If the above steps don't work, consider contacting Acer support for assistance. They might be able to provide you with the necessary files or guidance on how to restore Microsoft Works on your system. Try these steps and see if they help in resolving the issue with Microsoft Works not running on your Windows 7 Starter system. Let me know if you need further assistance!
