My taskbar disappears after going into sleep mode (completely transparent, cannot click on any part of it to open any programs) and sometimes my laptop shuts down for no reason after sleep mode.
One other annoying issue is that Windows 7 takes so long to connect to my router. I'm running a dual boot and Vista connects far faster than Windows 7.

Any help will be appreciated!

It seems like you are experiencing a few issues with your Windows 7 system, ranging from a disappearing taskbar after sleep mode to unexpected shutdowns post-sleep and slow connectivity to your router. Let's address each problem one by one:

1. Disappearing Taskbar after Sleep Mode:

When the taskbar becomes transparent and unresponsive after waking up from sleep mode, it could be due to a glitch or driver issue caused by the sleep mode. One potential solution is to restart the Windows Explorer process, which controls the taskbar and desktop icons. Here's how you can restart Windows Explorer:
  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
  2. In the Task Manager, go to the "Processes" tab.

  3. Right-click on "Windows Explorer" and select "Restart." This should refresh the taskbar and hopefully resolve the issue. If the problem persists, you may need to update your display drivers or troubleshoot further for any underlying system issues.

    2. Laptop Shuts Down Unexpectedly after Sleep Mode:

The unexpected shutdown post-sleep mode could be due to various reasons such as power settings, driver issues, or software conflicts. To troubleshoot this issue:
    • Check your power settings to ensure that the laptop is not set to shut down after a certain period of inactivity.
    • Update your system drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, to the latest versions recommended by the manufacturer.
    • Look for any errors in the Event Viewer that might indicate the cause of the shutdown.

    3. Slow Connectivity to Router in Windows 7:

If Windows 7 is slower to connect to your router compared to Vista, it could be related to network configurations or drivers. Here are some steps to improve connectivity speed:
    • Update network adapter drivers to the latest version available for Windows 7.
    • Check for any conflicting network settings or policies that might be slowing down the connection process.
    • Disable unnecessary network protocols or services that may be causing delays.
These solutions should help you address the issues you are facing with your Windows 7 system. If problems persist, feel free to provide more details for further assistance!
