On the road can I just click disconnect from the internet icon to be safe from intrusion or do I need to disable homegroup and file sharing etc?
Upon arrival can I just reconnect by clicking the same icon and entering the password?

I plan on unplugging her ISP cable from her modem and plugging it into my router. Will this work?
Thank you

For those who may be reading I am responding to my own post to help.
First, just disabling the wireless icon, or disabling the wirelss card in device manager wil keep you offf line until you reverse the process.
Secondly, My experience was that with a power cycle of both the modem and the router I could hard wire to the router and get internet or use her desktop cabled and my laptop wirelessly for inetrnet. Your components may result in a different approach. I used a Belkin router with mutual Comcast, that is we both have the same ISP.
