Hi Guys,

After days of trying and failing i came across this site and am hoping someone can help me. My hard drive failed recently so i purchased a new external usb hard drive and got a copy of windows 7 iso. I followed some guides about making a new partition and making the drive active etc but when i try to boot my other computer with the hard drive plugged in and ready i get NTLDR is missing message? I tried to re copy it a few times and have got nothing, a few times i get just a blank screen?

Does anyone have any ideas? I thought it was going to be more simple than this, apologise if there is more threads like this with answers to if someone could link me them i would be most grateful.

Thanks

Will

Hi.

Windows can not work from an external hard drive.

Hi

I've never had a reason to do this but if you want to give it a try, here are the instructions.

Run Windows 7 from an external USB HardDrive: Installing Windows 7 (6801) on vmware

Why don't you just put a new hard drive in your computer?

Mike
