I recently got a new SSD and had the Micro Center install it and it's been running fine. I also got the Logitech wireless desktop and mouse combo MK710. A few days later I decided to try over-clcoking my Geforce 470 and it worked for a while then crashed and I've been trying to get all of the setting back to their default values. Yesterday I decided to get the Geforce 560 TI and everything was fine til this evening when I got the BSOD again. Now, sometimes after my Windows 7 home PC waits up from Sleep, the PC is unresponsive then I get a BSOD. I used the program WhoCrashed and the latest report is below:

When I ran DXDIAG, there was some issueit had verifying DirectShow.

Let us know how it goes. If you get further problems with blue screens, attach your new dump files and details and we'll move on from there.

HTH.

Hi, thx for your earilier reply. I applied several patches and such and things seemed to be going well for a well but this evening, after waiting my PC from sleep mode, it crashed again. I've attached the latest mini dump file and updated PC specs. In addition, whenever I run DXDIAG, it tells me that there might be a problem accessing DirectShow. I've updated DirectX as best as I can plus I uninstalled then reinstall the NVidia graphics drivers.

Thx again for all of your help!

This one points to a critical file termination. Please run these

Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW

Read here for more information SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker - Windows 7 Forums

Let us know the results from the report at the end.

Memory corruption probably caused by a driver. please run these two tests

1-Memtest.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

2-Driver verifier

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable - Windows 7 Forums

OK, I got the BSOD again and after having run Verifier and reboot, it tells me that there's an issue with SmartDefrag from iobit. I uninstall the program, reboot, and later find that my PC performance goes down the drain. In frustration, I decide to reinstall my OS; I delete and re-create the SSD. I only install the Microsoft updates plus java and Adobe Flash Player. Things are going well for a while but of course, I"m getting a min dump after I enable Verifier again. In fact, Verifier is always causing some problem. At some point I also install the latest USB, RealTek, and LAN drivers from Gigabyte. When I was running DXDIAG, it again got hung again.

I'm wondering if it's my SSD at this point. If you want, I can reinstall the OS and stop at some given point.

Thx again

OK, I think I got most of the updated drivers. I did find Driver Detective that sort of helped identify some drivers that needed updating but without paying for the service, it's not as helpful as it could be.

1. I went to Intel's site and used their Driver Update Utility and they pointed out an update to the "Intel 5-3400 Series SATA Raid Controller 10.6.0.1022" but no matter if I download using the utility or download it manually, my PC always has the earilier version 10.6.0.1002. Would you know why I can't update it?

2. The utilty also points out the "Intel 5 series/3400 series chipset family PCI Express Root Port 1-3B42" and the "Intel 5 series/3400 series chipset family SMBus controller - 3B30" as out of date, do you know where I could download them?

Thx for your help

Go to Control Panel >> Devices and Printers, r-click your computer icon and select Device installation settings. Select No, let me choose what to do and Never install driver software from Windows Update (You can tick the box for "Replace generic device icons with enhanced icons") >> Save Changes

It should provide a link, If not, let us know, we'll hunt them down for you!

I followed your instructions but still when I'm installing the driver from Intel, it says it's installing 10.6.1002. Is there any way to verify the version of the program before I try to install it? I right-clicked on the file and selected Properties. On the details tab, it says the File Version is: 12.0.0.49974 and the Product Version is: 12.0

The Driver Detective does provide I link but only if I pay for the service whichI haven't done andI'm trying to avoid if possible. Do you know where I can download the files?

Can I get back to you later? But don't, repeat, don't use a "driver search" program to update your drivers! By all means use one if you feel you must to let you know which you may have to look for. But I'll guarantee they'll always find something wrong to part you from your Pound, Yen, Shekel, Dollar, Camel.

Well, the BSOD happened again. I installed Microsoft Office 2010 & Adobe Reader so could it have been one of these applicatins? Attached is the mini dump.

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a)
The requested page of kernel data could not be read in. Typically caused by
a bad block in the paging file or disk controller error. Also see
KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR.
If the error status is 0xC000000E, 0xC000009C, 0xC000009D or 0xC0000185,
it means the disk subsystem has experienced a failure.
If the error status is 0xC000009A, then it means the request failed because
a filesystem failed to make forward progress.
Arguments:
Arg1: fffff6fb40001da8, lock type that was held (value 1,2,3, or PTE address)
Arg2: ffffffffc000000e, error status (normally i/o status code)
Arg3: 0000000044bd8884, current process (virtual address for lock type 3, or PTE)
Arg4: fffff680003b5640, virtual address that could not be in-paged (or PTE contents if arg1 is a PTE address)

That external driver is still dated 2008. Not saying that isn't the latest offered though. Can you give us the link from where you got the driver and also the exact make model details of the external HDD please.
