Well, i just installed the MSDN version of the RTM build 7600 of Windows 7. and everything went very smooth. its just that, i think it is conflicting with something on my computer. I shut it down the first time i installed and restarted. it booted and i was able to use it. but just a few hours ago, everything just got reallly slow and my comp froze completely. so i manually turned it off. now, whenever i try to start, it either sticks at the POST screen, turns off, then boots past, or it goes to Starting Up, and then freezes just as the two first colors come out of black. so if i restart, same thing happens...tried safe mode, it got to the last driver it always gets to, but it never went on. tried "Last known good config" to no avail. also, as a side note, when the comp freezes at starting up, it usually will like skip to a later part of the colors coming out, and then freeze once more at that spot...im not sure what this issue is or why it is happening from the new installation or just because something went wrong. Btw, I upgraded from RC.

Solution
Try running a chkdsk. Right click on your HDD, choose properties, Tools and then 'check now'. Make sure you tick the box to repair broken sectors..

Also what are your temps like? Using a small paintbrush clean out any dust thats in the grills and vents..
The laptop is known for having heating issues. it says on the site. It doesnt bother me because yes i do have a cooling pad and is does not really make a difference. the laptop is just naturally hot. I still have no clue whats wrong and im gettting sick of having to use my moms computer

Can you adjust the internal fans at all? Perhaps if you used something like speedfan you could get them to run a bit faster?

I would if I could even get in. Now it just does not even turn on. I press the power button and it goes on an right back off. If it does turn on after I pres it for a bit, it stays a black screen and eventually turns off and won't go back on.

***Bump***, I really dont want to start a new thread. It has been FOREVER and this problem still persists. I installed a new clean copy of XP too. it STILL freezes. HP really needs to make better laptops.
