Hi Guys,

I bought an app that requires IE7 and I cannot find any place that offers a Win7 version.

How may I run IE7 on a Win7 64 Bit OS?

Heck, I cannot even find an IE7 that will run on my Vista 64bit OS!

I read about Virtual PC Is that an option?

If so how is this done?

Thanks for any tips and leads!

Solution
To run Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) on a Windows 7 64-bit operating system, you can use a virtualization tool like Virtual PC. Here's a general guide on how to set this up:

Running IE7 on Windows 7 64-bit using Virtual PC:

  1. Download Virtual PC:
    • Download and install Microsoft Virtual PC. You can download it from the official Microsoft website.
    []Create a Virtual Machine:
    • Open Virtual PC and create a new virtual machine.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the virtual machine.
    • Make sure to allocate sufficient resources (RAM, CPU) to the virtual machine for better performance.

    • Install Windows XP (32-bit) as the guest operating system on the virtual machine.
    • You will need a Windows XP installation disk for this step.
    []Install IE7 on Windows XP:
    • Once Windows XP is installed, download and install Internet Explorer 7 on the virtual machine. You can find the IE7 installer on the official Microsoft website or through other reliable sources.
    [
    ]Launch IE7:
    • After installing IE7 on the virtual machine, you can launch and use it as needed for the specific application that requires it.

Using Virtual PC for Vista 64-bit:

The process is similar for Vista 64-bit:
      • Download and install Virtual PC for Vista 64-bit.
      • Create a virtual machine.
      • Install Windows XP on the virtual machine.
      • Install IE7 on the Windows XP virtual machine.

      Considerations:

      • Compatibility: Please note that using older versions of Internet Explorer may pose security risks, as they lack modern security features.
      • Application Compatibility: Ensure that the application you are trying to run on IE7 will work correctly within a virtualized environment.
By following these steps, you should be able to run IE7 on both your Windows 7 64-bit and Vista 64-bit systems using Virtual PC. Let me know if you need further assistance with any of the steps!
