Hi,

I have Windows 7 and Ubuntu in my system. I have hibernated Windows 7. After starting ubuntu, I think I have modified some files from the windows drive. And I have hibernated Ubuntu also.

Now when I try to login to Windows, Its accepting the password but its not opening the EXplorer. It just shows the mouse pointer. Explorer is not opening by itself.

I have opened the explorer explicitly from the task-manager using New Task.
Then My Desktop opens up. But unable to open My Computer...

Please help..

Solution
It seems like you are encountering some issues with accessing your Windows 7 system after hibernating both Windows 7 and Ubuntu and potentially modifying some files from the Windows drive while in Ubuntu. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue of Explorer not opening properly and being unable to access "My Computer":

Task Manager Method

  1. Task Manager: Since you can open Task Manager, you can try the following:
    • In Task Manager, click on "File" and then select "Run new task."
    • Type explorer.exe and check the box for "Create this task with administrative privileges."
    • Click "OK" to see if this opens Explorer properly.

      Check Disk for Errors

    []Check Disk for Errors:
    • You can run a disk check to scan and fix any potential errors on the Windows drive.
    • Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command chkdsk C: /f.

Disable Fast Startup (if applicable)

  1. Disable Fast Startup (if enabled):
    • Fast Startup can sometimes cause issues. You can disable it by going to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable > Uncheck "Turn on fast startup (recommended)."

Check System Files

  1. Check System Files:
    • You can run a System File Checker scan to check and repair corrupted system files. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run sfc /scannow.

      Boot into Safe Mode

  1. ]Boot into Safe Mode:
    • Restart your computer and try booting into Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, see if you can access "My Computer" or if the issue persists.

      Data Backup

  2. Data Backup:
    • In case you are unable to resolve the issue, it's advisable to back up your important data from the Windows drive before attempting any major fixes. Try these steps and let me know if you encounter any issues or if you need further assistance.
