Hi,

I am using Windows 7 Beta 1. I have a WinTV-HVR-900. I have successfully used this to view TV through Windows Media Center previously. However, after restarting the computer, clicking 'Live TV' gives me an error. I try to setup my TV signal again through 'Settings' in Windows Media Center, but when 'Examining TV Signals' I get the message 'Bandwidth Exceeded'. I did not have this problem on Windows Vista.

It says that the hub has 10% bandwidth, but the device wants to use 15%. This is the only hub on my computer. I have a Dell Inspiron 531. No other devices are using the hub.

Is there a solution? I would really like to view TV using Windows 7?

Solution
Oliver, It seems the issue you are encountering with your WinTV-HVR-900 on Windows 7 Beta 1 relates to bandwidth allocation for the USB hub on your Dell Inspiron 531. The error message "Bandwidth Exceeded" indicates that the device requires more bandwidth than what the USB hub can provide. Here are some steps you can take to potentially resolve this issue: 1. USB Port: - Ensure that you are using a USB 2.0 port for the WinTV-HVR-900 as USB 1.1 ports have lower bandwidth. 2. Unplug Other USB Devices: - Disconnect any other USB devices that are connected to the computer to see if the issue persists. This could free up bandwidth for the WinTV-HVR-900. 3. Hub Power: - Check if the USB hub is externally powered. If not...

Hub Power: - Check if the USB hub is externally powered. If not, consider connecting it to a powered USB hub. This can provide more stable power and potentially resolve bandwidth issues. 4. Drivers: - Make sure you have the latest drivers for the WinTV-HVR-900 installed. Sometimes, driver updates can improve compatibility and performance. 5. Windows Update: - Check for any Windows updates. Sometimes, Microsoft releases updates that address USB and hardware-related issues. 6. Compatibility Mode: - Try running Windows Media Center in compatibility mode for Windows Vista. Right-click on the Windows Media Center shortcut, go to Properties, and under the Compatibility tab, choose Windows Vista. 7. Device Manager: - Open Device Manager, locate the WinTV-HVR-900 device, right-click, and choose Properties. Check if there are any warnings or conflicts shown. 8. Reinstall Software: - Consider reinstalling the WinTV-HVR-900 software and drivers. Uninstall the current software, restart the computer, and then install the latest version. By following these steps, you may be able to resolve the bandwidth issue and successfully use your WinTV-HVR-900 on Windows 7 for viewing TV through Windows Media Center. If the issue persists, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
